Update February 26th, 2020

Vanderbilt ASCE has been exceptionally busy this past month. The chapter recently hosted its annual Industry Night, at which students were able to network with 25 local companies. Engineering discussions were had, resumes were exchanged, and swag was given. Vanderbilt ASCE also hosted Engineering Week events. On campus, the chapter held a spaghetti structure strength competition where groups competed to see who could make the largest structure that could withstand a five-pound load. Students also volunteered at the Adventure Science Center for Engineer’s Day with Younger Members, where they taught children about their water and how water filtration systems work. Between all these events, Vanderbilt ASCE has dedicated their time to Conference events. The team is looking forward to seeing everyone at Conference and playing a healthy dose of cornhole!

Update January 25th, 2020

Vanderbilt University’s American Society of Engineers (ASCE) chapter has kept busy this winter season! Between making and donating tie blankets for charity, shucking bamboo to create a sustainable bus shelter, pouring molds for concrete canoes for the annual Southeastern ASCE Conference and celebrating the holidays with their peers, the chapter has made sure to make the start of the semester sustainable, goal-oriented, and fun. The chapter has also been fortunate enough to hear phenomenal presentations regarding aviation and airport terminal engineering from Atkins and more about the engineering taking place in their own backyard from the Executive Director of Mobility for Vanderbilt. Lastly, the group is getting ready to host their annual Industry Night on February 6th, and has been working on professional development through resume and cover letter editing. All excitement on Vanderbilt’s end as these events draw near!
